Jessica Vaclav is a Professional Career Internship (PCI) Intern at Argonne, and she helps Outreach create new STEM activities and programs to engage youth audiences. She brainstorms, researches, develops, and facilities ideas for learning activities that will be implemented at key events such as STEM Fest. Additionally, she designs the activities that scientists will use when visiting classrooms to talk about STEM topics. Her goal with students is to open the door to the diverse possibilities of science and encourage them to pursue STEM pathways.
Always curious to learn about science, Jessica has a Bachelor’s in Biology from Carroll University and is currently working on a Master’s in Biology at DePaul University. She has participated in multiple internships such as an animal care internship at the Peoria Zoo, and she has also performed quality assurance testing in past employments. Wanting to teach the general public about science outside of strictly a lab, Jessica applied at Argonne so she can enrich Education’s outreach initiatives. Outside of work, she enjoys taking on do-it-yourself projects.
