Miranda Kerr is an Argonne Associate leading the design and implementation of the WDTS RENEW Summer Institute for Teachers by handling teacher professional development aspects of the program. Passionate about supporting nonprofits, museums, and other institutions’ educational missions, she wants to bring data science to teachers, so they in turn can bring that science to their students and prepare the next generation of data scientists.
After graduating from Florida Atlantic University with an M.S. in Biology, Miranda has since focused on working in education fields to innovate diverse, engaging programs. Her vast experience in education, spanning over 15 years, includes 10 years at Shedd Aquarium as the manager of digital learning and later as the manager of teen programs; among other initiatives, she led Shedd’s award-winning Sea Curious video series for children. She has also started her own digital learning and strategy consulting business, where she develops science curriculums and guides nonprofit organizations through education projects such as virtual field trips.
Miranda applies her her knowledge and experience in formal and informal education to enriching teachers’ professional development through Argonne’s RENEW initiative. She leads the program’s three-week summer workshop and provides ongoing support for the teacher cohort during the 2023-24 school year.
