Minimizing waste from nuclear fuel recycling

The system allows for recovery of molten salts and the collection of rare earth elements from nuclear fuel recycling.

Argonne researchers Mark Williamson (CFCT) and Stanley Wiedmeyer (EOF) have collaborated to patent their work on an improved system for molten salt recycling. This system allows for electrolyte recovery from used nuclear fuel processing and results in the ability to collect rare earth elements from the process. The system helps to minimize waste that is generated through nuclear fuel reprocessing.
