Protecting The Planet: Advancing & Practicing Sustainability

Argonne Outloud Public Lecture

Argonne National Laboratory invites you to attend the next installment of the OutLoud Lecture Series in recognition of Earth Day.

Argonne is committed to being a leader in environmental stewardship by adopting sustainable practices in lab operations that conserve energy, divert waste, conserve water, and reduce fuel consumption and pollution. Our sustainability program engages the Argonne community and upgrades infrastructure to move the site closer to the goal of being a net zero carbon laboratory by 2050. However, practicing sustainability to support a decarbonization strategy is just the beginning of Argonne’s environmental leadership work. Our world class community of scientists advance decarbonization innovation and technology by collaborating with the sustainability team on clean energy research.

Join us for a conversation with our sustainability program leader and two of our talented scientists. Their research is improving the charging capability and interoperability of electric vehicle charging stations, and developing an artificial intelligence platform to monitor bird activities around large-scale solar energy facilities to examine the potential impact on bird populations. These scientific collaborations underscore Argonne’s commitment to advance clean and renewable energy research and development; employ sustainable practices; and be a responsible member of our global community.
