The Sustainable Transportation Education & Partnerships (STEP) department’s mission is to:
- Research, develop, demonstrate, and deploy cutting edge science and technology
- Create impactful education, workforce and equity-centered programming
- Shape sustainable transportation solutions and build the next generation workforce to transition the nation to e-mobility
The STEP department is a multi-disciplinary team with decades of experience managing large public/private partnerships between government, industry, and academia.
Our featured expertise spans the areas of:
- Applied research in advanced mobility- electrification, V2X connectivity, vehicle automation, advanced sensors and advanced controlled systems
- Student competitions and academic partnerships in clean energy and transportation research & education, including with minority serving and other educational institutions
- Education and workforce development – training and education throughout the STEM pipeline, curriculum development and instructional design
- Equity-centered programming; Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; and Energy Equity and Environmental Justice
- Deployment and demonstration programs
- Community Outreach and Engagement
