AISTEM Mini Jam — AI Engineering Assistant: Improve a Model Accelerator

This free event is for STEM educators and academic leaders from high schools, community colleges, universities, and informal education organizations. Participants should be active in STEM teaching, or program, curriculum, or workforce development.

The future of STEM education is evolving alongside the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI). To help educators prepare students for this changing landscape, Argonne National Laboratory and the College of DuPage are partnering to present AI STEM Learning Mini Jam — AI Engineering Assistant: Improve a Model Accelerator.

Drawing on Argonne’s leadership in AI + science and the College of DuPage’s expertise in STEM workforce development, this interactive experience will give educators a firsthand look at how AI is transforming science, problem-solving, and future careers.

About the Event

Join us for a FREE interactive AI STEM Mini Jam where educators become learners and conversation moves to practice. Designed as a hands-on, collaborative experience, this 2-hour pilot experience will challenge educators to work in small groups to explore improving a  tabletop model magnetic accelerator using AI as an engineering assistant.

During this two-hour in-person event, participants will:

  • Explore a real-world STEM problem using a model system with many variables
  • Experiment with large language models to  brainstorm solutions
  • Collaborate with AI as a research assistant to develop and test ideas
  • Reflect on classroom-ready ideas with colleagues, inspired by the experience
