MSD Hybrid Colloquium
Abstract: In this talk, I will talk about active fluids made of purified cytoskeletal proteins and recent attempts at achieving closed-loop control of these inherently turbulent fluids using data-driven techniques. First, I will describe the experimental system and the overall control goals we set ourselves. Then I will describe optimal control theory as applied to a 2D active fluid and its ongoing generalizations to the 3D fluid case. Finally, I will lay out the closed loop control goals and progress so far towards achieving them.
