Biography

Carlos Josue Lopez-Salgado is an Energy Systems Engineer in the Center for Energy, Environmental and Economic Systems Analysis. His research interests focus on implementing models for electricity market interactions, long- and short-term hydrothermal scheduling under uncertainty, modelling of power system operations considering large scale storage systems, capacity and transmission expansion considering high shares of renewables, energy-reserve co-optimization methods and the application of decomposition to large scale and nonlinear optimization problems within the energy sector.

Carlos received a BSc. in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Honduras, a MSc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a PhD. in Electrical Engineering from the National University of San Juan, Argentina. Prior to joining Argonne in 2022, he worked as the System Operation Manager at the former Honduras Independent System Operator.
