Biography

Chris collaborates and coordinates with federal departments and agencies to facilitate government-to-government consultation with federally recognized American Indian Tribes (Tribes), Native Hawaiian Organizations (NHOs), and Alaska Native Village Corporations (ANVCs). Assists in the preparation of in-person and online training programs directed towards effective consultation with tribal governments. Facilitates public and/or stakeholder engagement meetings. Assists with review and analysis of data to characterize cultural landscapes and identify and evaluate the effects of energy‑related human activities on cultural resources (ethnographic, archaeological, and historical).

Career Highlights

  • Served as the Tribal Liaison and Executive Director of the Kansas Native American Affairs Office for two Kansas Governors.
  • Established a Tribal Relations Team as the Director of Tribal Relations for BNSF Railway in Fort Worth, Texas (a first in the railroad industry). Facilitated communications with 86+ tribal nations and First Nations in the United States and British Columbia.
  • Served on the National Advisory Council of the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, and as a board member of the National Advisory Council of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in Washington, D.C.
  • Served as a Mediator for the Kansas Judicial Branch, Dispute Resolution program.
  • Specialized training in Conflict Resolution and Consultation Tools for Cultural and Natural Resources Projects as well as Civil Mediation and Domestic Relations Mediation.
