Duck Young Chung

Principal Materials Scientist

Biography

Duck Young Chung is a Principal Materials Scientist in the Emerging Materials Group. After receiving his Ph.D from Kyungpook National University in 1991, he joined the group of Prof. Kanatzidis as a postdoc at Michigan State University in 1992 where later he became a research faculty, then moved to Argonne in 2006. He has extensive expertise and a strong track record in solid-state chemistry. His expertise includes exploratory synthesis, crystal growth coupled with structure and chemical and physical property characterization of a wide variety of bulk materials as well as development of synthesis techniques and methods in the areas of chalcogenides, pnictides, halides, and intermetallic alloys for thermoelectrics, superconductivity, topological insulators, and nuclear radiation detector materials. He is the author of over 200 peer-reviewed articles and patents published.
