Evan VanderZee received his B.A. from Trinity Christian College of Palos Heights, IL with a double major in mathematics and computer science. Subsequently he attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he earned a doctor of philosophy degree in mathematics with a computational science and engineering option. The focus of his studies was within the area of numerical analysis, and more specifically in mesh optimization.
After receiving his Ph.D., Evan took a position as a postdoctoral appointee at Argonne National Laboratory. In time, the postdoctoral appointment evolved into a regular staff position. As of 2018, Evan is in the Strategic Security Sciences division. He works on several projects within the division, primarily in the area of modeling and simulation. He also spends some time working on the MeshKit portion of the SIGMA project.
