Tianqi Hong

Energy System Scientist

Tianqi Hong’s main research interests are power system analysis, power electronics systems, microgrids, and electromagnetic design.

Biography

Tianqi Hong received a B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Hohai University, China, in 2011 and M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the Southeast University, China, and the Engineering school of New York University in 2013. He received a Ph.D. degree from New York University in 2016.

Currently, he is an Energy System Scientist at Argonne National Laboratory and the PI for multiple DOE and industry sponsored projects. Prior to this, he was a Postdoc Fellow at the Engineering school of New York University and a Senior Research Scientist at Unique Technical Services, LLC, responsible for transportation electrification, battery energy storage integration, and medium capacity microgrid. Dr. Hong is an active reviewer in the power engineering area, and he serves as an Editorial Board Member of International Transactions on Electrical Energy Systems, IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, and IEEE Power Engineering Letters. He also serves as Special Activity Co-Chair of the IEEE IAS Industrial Power Converters Committee (IPCC).
