Abstract: Modern trends in experimental neutrino physics require a novel approach to constructing efficient detectors. The ArgonCube concept for large-mass liquid argon time projection chambers combines modularity, scalability, efficient use of the cryogenic medium, an unambiguous 3-D charge readout with pixel array, an efficient compact light collection system, and several other technical advances. Details of the progress in realizing this approach by the ArgonCube collaboration, and in particular at LHEP, University of Bern, as well as challenges encountered will be discussed in this presentation.
