HEP Theory Seminar
Abstract: I will discuss advances in Hamiltonian lattice gauge theory over the past several years, ranging from improving symmetry properties of Hamiltonians to representing gauge theory states using infinite tensor networks. Due to these advances, it has become possible to efficiently simulate real-time particle collision processes for 1+1-dimensional gauge theories.
I will describe a setting of particular interest: the Schwinger model at θ = π, in which color confinement is lost and charged fermions can become (half-)asymptotic states. By colliding these states, we can observe the formation of a flux string and the dynamical breaking of that string via pair production.
