Biography

Greg Krumdick is the director of the Applied Materials division. He leads a team of scientists and engineers to accelerate the development of new materials and processes, transitioning from invention to commercialization. With over two decades of experimental work in materials process development and scale up, Greg established Argonne’s Materials Engineering Research Facility (MERF) where his team has successfully scaled over 50 advanced materials and collaborated with numerous corporations, national laboratories and universities.

Greg holds over 20 patents, has earned five R&D 100 awards, a Federal Laboratory Consortium award for technology transfer, and a University of Chicago Board of Governors Awards for Distinguished Performance.

He earned his M.S. degree in Bioengineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago, focusing on automated control systems. Greg is also a Senior Scientist at-Large at the University of Chicago Consortium for Advanced Science and Engineering (UChicago CASE) and a Senior Institute Fellow at the Northwestern Argonne Institute for Science and Engineering (NAISE).
