Argonne MXene Innovations

The current landscape of advanced two-dimensional materials presents an array of challenges. The need for efficiency, predictability, and reliability in diverse applications is paramount.

The current landscape of advanced two-dimensional materials presents an array of challenges across numerous applications, including energy storage (Li-ion batteries, supercapacitors, and energy storage components), composites, photocatalysis, water purification, gas sensors, coatings for corrosion resistance, and protective layers for surfaces. The need for efficiency, predictability, and reliability in these diverse applications is paramount.

Argonne researchers recently synthesized high-quality MXenes — a rapidly emerging class of materials. As devices get smaller, MXenes will help pack more of a punch in their processing power. Pictured, from left, are Madison Lisenko, Shiba Adhikari, Sixbert Muhoza, and Brian Wyatt.

Argonne National Laboratory takes the lead in addressing these challenges through its groundbreaking initiative, “Argonne MXene Innovations.” As a multidisciplinary science and engineering research center, Argonne is uniquely equipped to provide comprehensive solutions for harnessing the potential of advanced two-dimensional materials.
