Ian T. Foster

Division Director, Argonne Distinguished Fellow

Ian Foster’s research contributions span high performance computing, distributed systems, and data-driven discovery.  He has published hundreds of scientific papers and eight books on these and other topics.  Methods and software developed under his leadership of the Data Science and Learning division, underpin many large national and international cyberinfrastructures.

Deputy Division Director, Argonne Distinguished Fellow

Rajeev Thakur is a senior computer scientist and deputy director of the Data Science and Learning Division at Argonne National Laboratory. He received a Ph.D. in computer engineering from Syracuse University. His research interests are in high-performance computing, parallel programming models, runtime systems, communication libraries, scalable parallel I/O, and data science and machine learning. He is an IEEE Fellow. Rajeev was the director of Software Technology for the Exascale Computing Project (ECP) 2016-2017 and continues as the lead for the Programming Models and Runtimes area in ECP Software Technology.
