Energy Systems and Infrastructure Assessment
ESIAESIA Menu
The Energy Systems and Infrastructure Assessment division provides the rationale for decision makers to improve energy efficiency. We develop and use analytic tools to help the U.S. achieve energy goals. We also develop, deploy, and advance grid technologies that ensure a robust and secure U.S. grid transmission and distribution system. We collaborate with government agencies as well as companies to help move the nation toward an economy based on reliable energy.
Our Capabilities
Our capabilities in system assessment and analysis support policymakers in evaluating the potential impacts of energy decisions. When decision-makers need information about how energy choices, technologies and policies may affect outcomes, they come to Argonne’s experts for answers. For more than two decades, Argonne’s analysts and tool developers have pioneered the science of analyzing how behavior, choices, and options influence energy outcomes, and the tools they have developed are used throughout the world.
We have world-class expertise in modernizing the electricity grid and the technologies needed to do it. The demands facing the nation’s electric grid present unique and ever-evolving challenges. From capacity to resiliency, the options and tools needed to support good decisions are immense. Argonne is home to some of the world’s finest minds and models to analyze, assess, model, and project how different technologies and actions can influence the robustness and security of the nation’s electrical systems.
