Biography

Hoyoung Kwon is a Principal Environmental Analyst at the Systems Assessments Center within the Energy Systems and Infrastructure Analysis division. He earned a Ph.D. in Environmental Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master’s degree in Environmental Management from Duke University in Durham, NC.

His current research focuses on: 

  • Assessing environmental impacts of biofuel feedstock production employing Argonne’s GREET (Greenhouse gases, Regulated Emissions, and Energy use in Technologies) model for life-cycle analysis of advanced vehicle technologies, transportation fuels, and other energy systems.
  • Examining the potential for sustainable farming practices to improve the greenhouse gas profile of grain (i.e., corn and soybeans) and cellulosic feedstocks (i.e. corn stover, dedicated energy crops, and forest residues) utilizing empirical and process-based modeling approaches.
