Argonne Scholar - Maria Goeppert Mayer Fellow

Biography

After pursuing classical studies in high school, I earned my degree in Physics from the University of Pavia (Università degli Studi di Pavia) in 2016. As an undergraduate and master’s student, I was selected for the Collegio Nuovo, an Honors College program. I obtained my Ph.D. in Theoretical Nuclear Physics from the University of Pavia in 2021, focusing on the 3D momentum structure of the proton. During my doctoral studies, I was awarded the EIC Fellowship from the Jefferson Lab Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) Theory Center. Transitioning fields for my postdoctoral studies, I shifted from Nuclear Physics to High Energy Physics (HEP). As an HEP postdoc at Argonne National Laboratory, I delved into physics Beyond the Standard Model. I am now a Maria Goeppert Mayer Fellow with the Theory Group of the Physics Division, where I am working on a project that uses and develops AI/ML methods to perform searches for signatures of Beyond Standard Model (BSM) physics in the massive data sets that are produced by particle accelerator facilities worldwide, with a focus on US facilities such as Jefferson Lab and the Electron-Ion Collider.
