Biography
BIOGRAPHY
Shiyuan Zhou is now a postdoc at Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division of Argonne National Laboratory. He received his Ph.D in 2024 through the joint training from Xiamen University and Argonne National Laboratory. His research focused on advancing the frontiers of battery chemistry through the development of multi-modal operando electrochemical scanning/transmission electron microscopy (EC-S/TEM) integrated with synchrotron X-ray methods to directly probe real-time (electro)chemical dynamics of energy materials. His work unravels fundamental electrochemical behaviors in complex environments and guides the design of next-generation materials, across electrochemistry, materials science, and electron microscopy. His research has led to landmark discoveries, including collective charge transfer mechanism in Li-S batteries (Nature, 2023), competitive interfacial reaction pathways in Li-S batteries (Nature, 2025), and halide segregation phenomena in all-solid-state Li-chalcogen batteries (Science, 2025).
