Biography

Bratin Sengupta is postdoctoral researcher at Argonne, with joint appointment at Northwestern University through NAISE. His research interests include design and fabrication of novel materials for separation using membranes and adsorbents. His research expertise includes fabrication of inorganic thin film composite membranes for organic solvent nanofiltration/reverse osmosis for separation of solutes dissolved in organic solvent and small hydrocarbon molecules, temperature controlled breathable ionic covalent organic framework for gas molecule recognition. His other expertise involves membranes and adsorbents for carbon capture, carbon upcycling, ammonia separation and water purification. At Argonne, Bratin works on extending the lifespans of polymeric membranes by imparting antifouling properties via Atomic Layer Deposition and Sequential Infiltration Synthesis.
