Biography
Vincent Freyermuth is the Director of the Vehicle and Mobility Systems (VMS) Department at Argonne National Laboratory. Collaborating closely with public and private organizations, VMS spearheads the evaluation of advanced technologies on energy, emissions, cost and mobility. VMS assesses the technology impact of advanced vehicles, powertrains, and control variables on individual vehicles, including light-duty, medium-duty, in on-road, off-road and aviation scenarios. With an increased focus on connectivity and automation, VMS has expanded its expertise to encompass the development and evaluation of energy-efficient environment-aware controls, both in simulation and XIL.
VMS also studies broader transportation system management strategies involving emerging vehicle and information technologies in agent-based models in which all aspects of travel decisions can be modeled simultaneously, including activity generation and planning, multi-model route choice, freight and logistics planning, charging infrastructure and system level optimization.
