Biography

Amy Harris is an experienced safety professional who currently serves as the Directorate Safety Manager for Argonne National Laboratory’s Nuclear Technologies and National Security (NTNS) and Advanced Energy Technologies (AET) directorates. Prior to this role, she held safety positions in the Energy Systems Division (ES) and Applied Materials Division (AMD).

Amy has over 20 years of experience working at Argonne. During this time, she has established a BSL-2 facility and developed a project specific biosafety manual within the division. In addition, she developed and implemented work planning and control processes to ensure the safety of workers. Thanks to her leadership, the division operated for over 1 million hours without an occupational injury or illness involving days away from work from January 2009-February 2015. Amy worked with her team to establish a facility inspection schedule and established and conducts monthly safety team meetings with SME’s WSE, RP, NWS, and DOE to maintain effective communication between the organizations.

Amy’s qualifications include a Certified Safety Professional Certification (CSP), a Master’s of Science degree in Industrial Management, and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Community Health, both from Northern Illinois University.
