Biography
Andrew Hebden is a principal chemical engineer and manager of the Reactor Systems & Testing group in the Nuclear Science and Engineering Division of Argonne National Laboratory. He has over 25 years of experience in nuclear materials and separation technology with expertise in research reactor conversion, medical isotope production, spent nuclear fuel separations, and nuclear waste form materials development and testing. The research reactor conversion work is focused on reducing the need for high enriched uranium in the five U.S. high performance research reactors. The conversion to low enriched uranium requires new fuel designs, materials testing, and modifications to reactor facilities to maintain the reactors’ performance capabilities. He has a B.S. in chemical engineering from Iowa State University and a master’s degree in project management from Keller Graduate School of Management.
