Biography
Ben joined the ATLAS operations group in 2014 and has since held various roles, culminating in his current position as Operations Supervisor in 2020. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Bradley University. He later obtained a Master’s in Physics from NIU, with his thesis focusing on developing compact X-ray sources. In his role as Operations Supervisor, Ben is responsible for supervising the control room operators and ensuring the facility provides beams to users promptly and effectively. Additionally, Ben contributes to and coordinates ATLAS beam studies and development and provides input on the feasibility of experiments proposed to the ATLAS Program Advisory Committee. Ben works with other ATLAS subgroups to coordinate maintenance activities and support facility upgrades.
Ben has served on various committees within the physics division and is currently the Physics Division’s point of contact to the Work Planning and Controls group at Argonne.
