Biography
Benjamin Blakely, PhD CISSP (senior member, IEEE) is a cybersecurity and artificial intelligence researcher at Argonne National Laboratory leading the Applied Research group in the Strategic Security Sciences division. He has over 20 years’ experience working in a variety of information technology, cybersecurity, research, and teaching roles, having twice built and led information security programs for software companies in the private sector -- as well as information technology, data science and customer relationship management teams, taught for several years at Iowa State University, and completed a two-year rotation with the U.S. Department of Defense. He holds a BS in Computer Engineering (minor in Psychology) and PhD in Computer Engineering (minor in Political Science) from Iowa State University, and is a contract instructor at the University of Chicago. He holds Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM, inactive) certifications and is the lead inventor on two patents related to encryption key management in cloud infrastructures.
