Biography

Charles Turley serves as the director of internal audit and chief audit officer at Argonne National Laboratory. In this role, he leads internal audit efforts across the laboratory’s financial, administrative and operational functions. His responsibilities include overseeing risk-based audits, verifying the implementation of corrective actions and acting as the primary liaison for external audits.

Before joining Argonne, Charles was vice president for audit at the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. Throughout his career, he has held key leadership roles in both the public and private sectors, including audit executive, chief data officer and assistant inspector general at organizations such as the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspectors General and KPMG

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Charles is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Institute of Internal Auditors and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Illinois Chicago and a master’s degree in accounting from Strayer University.
