Demetra Adrahtas

Demetra Adrahtas assists Argonne researchers with commercial partner engagements, business relationships, and intellectual property management.

Prior to joining Argonne, Demetra worked as an Intellectual Property Technology Specialist at Clark + Elbing, an intellectual property law firm. In that role, she performed prior art searches, drafted patent applications, and assisted in patent prosecution by developing legal and technical arguments in response to office actions. Her areas of focus were biological, biomedical, and chemical, and in particular, medical devices, pharmaceutical compositions, diagnostics, microfluidics, and laboratory/research tools.

Demetra has also worked as a Technology Commercialization Intern in the Technology Commercialization office at the University of Minnesota.

She completed the Polsky Center I-Corps program in 2018 at the University of Chicago as an entrepreneurial lead within a team focused on evaluating the commercial applicability of a surface chemistry within the organic electronics space.

Demetra has a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Minnesota and a BS in Chemistry from Loyola University Chicago.
