Biography

Ethan Mancil is an experimental nuclear physicist in the Physics Division at Argonne National Laboratory. His research focuses on understanding nucleon and nuclear structure through precision experiments using electromagnetic probes. His work combines experimental measurements with detector development, data analysis, and Monte Carlo simulation.

His graduate research focused on Compton scattering from light nuclei as a probe of nucleon polarizabilities. As a member of the High Intensity Gamma-Ray Source (HIγS) Compton Scattering Collaboration, he worked on precision measurements of Compton scattering from helium-3, including detector calibration, experimental data analysis, and measurements aimed at improving our understanding of the neutron’s electric and magnetic polarizabilities.
