Biography
Francesco Salucci is part of the Aviation Group within Vehicle Mobility and Simulation (VMS) department and serves as developer of Aeronomie, a modeling and simulation tool for new airplanes, vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, and unmanned air systems. His research interests include: flight mechanics, propulsion, aircraft design and airport infrastructures.
Francesco Salucci holds a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. He has extensive experience in powerplants development for propeller-driven aircraft, achieved during his work on MAHEPA and UNIFIER19, EU-funded research projects about hybrid-electric propulsion. These programs were coordinated by aerospace industry leaders (Pipistrel) and involved several stakeholders ranging from component manufacturers, research institutions, and universities. The developed aircraft technology has been successfully flight tested.
In addition, Francesco spent 1.5 years working in the R&D department of a large helicopter manufacturer (Leonardo), on the development of hydrogen-powered rotorcraft.
