Biography
James joined Argonne National Laboratory in March 2024 as the Financial Manager for the PSC Directorate, where he plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the directorate’s financial strategies. With a strong focus on leadership, mentorship, and financial stewardship, James is responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and strategic financial planning. He leads a high-performing team dedicated to providing customer-centric business services to the executive leadership and staff, ensuring seamless alignment with the Laboratory’s financial policies and long-term goals. James is committed to continuous improvement, consistently seeking opportunities to streamline operations, enhance financial processes, and cultivate strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to drive the directorate’s success.
Prior to joining Argonne, James was a key leader at Oncourse Home Solutions (OHS), an affiliate of major utility companies such as Southern Company and American Water. While there, he was instrumental in supporting organizational growth and strategy through leadership in Finance, Business Performance/Analytics, and Information Technology. Most recently as Director of Business Performance, James led efforts to monitor and analyze business performance trends and key performance indicators, leveraging data analytics and executive reporting to drive informed decision-making at the highest levels.
Earlier in his career, James held several senior roles at OHS, including Director of Financial Planning and Analysis for the Pivotal Home Solutions segment, supporting the company’s growth during several mergers and acquisitions. Throughout his career, James has demonstrated expertise in financial management, data analysis, business operations, and system innovation, driving operational efficiency, improving productivity, and creating tailored solutions to automate business processes and track performance metrics.
James holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting, magna cum laude, and an MBA with a concentration in Finance, both from North Central College. His extensive experience enables him to navigate complex business environments with agility, delivering impactful results that drive organizational growth and value.
Outside of his professional endeavors, James enjoys spending time with family and friends, working on home improvement projects, and exploring both beach and small-town destinations.
