Biography

Ms. Lewis is a cultural resources specialist with expertise in collections management, archaeology, and the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). She has been working in the field of cultural heritage preservation since 2007, which includes experience in museum collections management, NAGPRA compliance for museums and federal agencies, and archaeological field experience. Ms. Lewis applies specialized experience and knowledge to support ethical stewardship and repatriation of Native American ancestors and cultural items. At Argonne, Ms. Lewis supports a number of projects, including NAGPRA compliance for the U.S. Department of the Air Force, development of regulatory guidance for Curation of Federally Owned and Administered Archaeological Collections (36 CFR 79) for the Air Force Civil Engineer Center, and various archaeological survey projects for federal sponsors.
