Biography

Dr. Jeffrey A. Bennett is an Energy Systems Engineer at Argonne National Laboratory. Dr. Bennett’s areas of expertise include energy system modeling, optimization, and life cycle assessment. His past projects have included carbon capture and storage, energy storage, and electric grid resiliency.

Before joining Argonne, Dr. Bennett worked at the Energy Information Administration (EIA) where he co-developed a model to project the deployment of carbon capture and storage in the United States. Prior to EIA, Dr. Bennett has held roles as Director of Life Cycle Assessment at Carbon Solutions, Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Virginia, and Research Engineer at Southwest Research Institute. 

Dr. Bennett holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Virginia, a joint M.Sc. in Turbomachinery Aerodynamics from the Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden) and University of Liège (Belgium), a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech. Dr. Bennett is also a Professional Engineer and a LEED Green Associate.
