Biography

Julie Parente leads Argonne’s communications efforts around transformative topics including artificial intelligence, supercomputing and exascale computing, self-driving laboratories, high-resolution climate modeling and synthetic biology. The Computing, Environment and Life Sciences (CELS) Directorate includes the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility, a national supercomputing facility that powers the research of more than 1,000 scientists from around the world every year, and is poised to bring its first exascale computer - Aurora - online.

A strategic communications leader with roots in journalism, Julie is an experienced, passionate advocate of organizational mission and vision. She previously was director of communications at the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago and held communications leadership roles at non-profit institutions in addition to working as a reporter and editor in daily newspapers.
