Junxiang Liu

Postdoctoral Appointee

Biography

Junxiang Liu received his Ph.D. from Nankai University and specializes in gaining a fundamental understanding of failure mechanisms and the rational design of electrode–electrolyte interfaces and interphases in rechargeable batteries.

Research Summary

Junxiang Liu investigates cathode materials for rechargeable batteries, focusing on the mechanisms governing their synthesis and long-term cycling stability.

To understand why these materials break down, Liu leverages a suite of multimodal X-ray techniques to study materials across different length scales, from the atomic level to the full electrode. These advanced methodologies enable researchers to track changes in crystal structure and oxidation states during calcination and battery operation. This work links how cathode materials are synthesized to how and why they degrade, providing insights that guide the design of more durable battery cathodes.
