Kwang Hoon Baek

Kwang Hoon Baek is an Energy Systems Analyst in the Systems Assessment Center of the Energy Systems and Infrastructure Analysis Division at Argonne National Laboratory. His research interests span the life-cycle analysis (LCA) and the techno-economic analysis (TEA) of CO2 utilization technologies and CO2 storage technologies. The technologies include, but are not limited to, CO2 sourcing and cost analysis, CO2 pipeline transportation cost model, CO2 storage, hydrogen production with low-carbon electricity sources, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production by CO2U.

Another research area is the decarbonization of the transportation sector via vehicle electrification of different vehicle classes. His expertise focuses on the comparison of different powertrains, including ICEV, BEV, FCEV, FCHEV, etc., regarding the total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis and life-cycle analysis (LCA) on energy consumption and GHG emissions of light-duty and medium & heavy-duty vehicles.
