Lance Long

Lance Long is joining the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility as Deputy Director of Operations. He brings over 20 years of experience in advanced research computing, previously serving as Senior Researcher at the Electronic Visualization Laboratory at the University of Illinois Chicago. His work spans the full research computing lifecycle, from grant development and vendor coordination to system design, deployment, and user support. Lance has managed systems ranging from immersive visualization environments to high-density AI/GPU clusters, contributed to national cyberinfrastructure initiatives, and supported researchers through training, facilities management, and collaborative development.
