Liz Bolton

Dr. Bolton is an Infrastructure Risk Analyst in Argonne’s Decision and Infrastructure Sciences (DIS) division. During her career at Argonne, she has contributed to and led programs focused on assessing risk and increasing the resilience of key infrastructure, addressing challenges from extreme weather events, and developing technical solutions to inform stakeholder decision-making.

Her research interests include water security, the food-energy-water (FEW) nexus, infrastructure dependency analysis, machine learning, and sociotechnical systems analysis, particularly agent-based modeling. 

She holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University, an M.S. in Strategic Intelligence from the Defense Intelligence College, and a B.A. in Peace, War, and Defense from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Prior to her position at Argonne, she served as an analyst in the federal government focused on national security and defense issues.
