Loren A. Knoblich

Biography

Loren Knoblich has 32 years of experience with the last 25 years at Argonne National Laboratory, where he is currently working as a chief technician in the Experimental Operations and Facilities division. He is experienced with hot cell, glovebox, and radiological facility operations having skills in shielded cask loading/unloading, use of remote master-slave manipulators, and handling of highly irradiated samples and decontamination activities.

Loren has provided technical support and contributed to experimental efforts conducted in the Irradiated Materials Laboratory (IML), Advanced Materials & Fuels Facility (AMFF), Steam Generator Tube Integrity Facilities, Industrial Ice Slurry Cooling Facility, and Alpha Gamma Hot Cell Facility (AGHCF).

He received an Associate in Applied Science degree in Mechanical Production Technology, an Associate of Arts in General Studies, and a Certificate in Welding from Joliet Junior College. Loren has additional education in: Machine Tool Technology, Precision Tool Sharpening, Liquid Dye Penetrant Testing, and Emergency Management. His certifications include: EPA 608 Universal Refrigerant Handling, EPA 609 Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning (MVAC), and U.S. Coast Guard Vessel Safety Examiner (USCG AUX-VE).

Loren holds an Illinois State Board of Education teaching license as a Career & Technical Educator (CTE). Classification of Instructional Program (CIP) approvals concentrate in: Industrial Mechanics & Maintenance Technology, Building / Property Maintenance, and Metal Fabricator.
