Biography
Quentin Ploussard received the Electrical Engineering degree from École Supérieure d’Électricité (Supélec), Paris, France, in 2014, the M.S. degree in Economics from Université Paris Sud XI, Paris, France, in 2014, and the joint Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Comillas Pontifical University, Madrid, Spain, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden, and Delft University of Technology, Delft, Netherlands.
His research interests include the optimization of hydropower plants and reservoir operations and the financial analysis of hydropower plant operations. He is currently an Energy Systems Engineer at Argonne National Laboratory. He has 5+ years of experience in hydropower modeling and techno-economic analysis of hydropower projects, and 10+ years of experience in optimization techniques and power systems modeling. He has worked with the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) and the Bureau of Reclamation to analyze the impact of evolving energy markets and drought conditions on federal hydropower plants. He collaborated with multiple National Laboratories to close the modeling gap between Production Cost Models and Hydropower Scheduling Tools and to identify hydropower operations that simultaneously benefit the environment and enhance hydropower economic. He served as Lead Investigator for 10+ WAPA and DOE funded projects.
