Biography
Roberto Torelli is Senior Research Scientist at Argonne National Laboratory (U.S.A.), Transportation and Power Systems Division. He holds a Master degree in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Energy and Nuclear Science and Technology from Politecnico di Milano, Italy.
He joined Argonne’s Department for Advanced Propulsion and Power in 2015 as a Postdoctoral Researcher and then transitioned to a staff position in 2018. His expertise is in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) of multiphase flows for energy, propulsion, and manufacturing applications. His current research revolves around the CFD modeling of injectors flows, liquid sprays and gaseous jets, and spray-wall interaction. Recently, his team has been working on the development and application of deep-learning techniques to the emulation of multiphase flows in automotive injectors.
