Postdoctoral Appointee

Lithium Batteries, Nanoporous Materials, Dry Processing

Biography

Dr. Runming Tao (Ronnie) is an electrochemical engineer in the Process R&D and Scale Up Group at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL), working on scale-up synthesis of electrode materials. He received his B.S. degree in chemistry from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2017 and Ph.D. degree in chemistry from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2021. During the 7-year working at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), Runming had deep experience in the 3 main ORNL battery research groups, namely, the Energy Storage and Conversion Group (2018-2019), the Nanomaterials Chemistry Group (2017-2021) and the Energy Storage and Conversion Manufacturing Group (2022-2024).

With background in electrochemical engineering, material chemistry and battery manufacturing science, Runming is expertise with material synthesis and characterization (nanoporous materials, NMC and NaMNF), lithium-ion batteries, lithium metal batteries and advanced battery electrode processing. His research interests include material synthesis and battery R2R manufacturing. Dr. Tao has authored nearly 60 peer-review journal articles and has severed as reviewers for over 20 peer-review journals. Currently, he is member in the Youth Editorial Board for the journal Energy Materials and Devices, the journal cMat, the journal Advanced Powder Materials and the Journal of Materials Science & Technology.
