Biography
Dr. Taner Cokyasar is a Computational Transportation Engineer at the Vehicle and Mobility Systems Department of Argonne National Laboratory, a role he has held under various titles since 2020. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Nevsehir University in 2012. He gained industry experience at Kuwait-Turkish Participation Bank in Turkiye. Soon after, he was awarded a scholarship by the Turkish Ministry of National Education, which facilitated his graduate studies in the U.S.
In 2014, Dr. Cokyasar attended the Intensive English Program at the University of Georgia. He then pursued graduate degrees in Industrial Engineering at the University of Tennessee, receiving his Master’s in 2016 and his Ph.D. in 2020. During his Ph.D., he interned at both Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Argonne National Laboratory, experiences that significantly shaped his research trajectory. Following his doctoral studies, he joined Argonne National Laboratory as a Postdoctoral Researcher.
Dr. Cokyasar also contributed to academia as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Tarsus University in Turkiye for nearly two years. His research spans a wide range of interests including operations research, transportation systems modeling, supply chain management, mathematical modeling, large-scale optimization, and inventory modeling, with a particular focus on queueing theory and salary optimization.
As a dedicated researcher, Dr. Cokyasar is involved in advancing computational techniques and optimization strategies to address complex challenges in transportation and mobility systems. His work aims to improve efficiency and effectiveness in various sectors through innovative mathematical and engineering approaches. Dr. Cokyasar is also a proud father of two children, Alparslan and Gunes Azra.
