Yine Sun

Accelerator Operations and Physics Group Leader

APS linac manager. Electron injector design, optimization and operations.

Biography

Yine Sun conducts research in electron beam dynamics and accelerator physics.

As a physicist at the Advanced Photon Source (APS), she serves as the APS linac manager, overseeing a portfolio of refurbishment projects aimed at modernizing an aging linear accelerator and enhancing its performance to support APSU as a fourth-generation synchrotron light source.

Prior to joining Argonne, Yine was a Peoples Fellow at Fermilab, where she focused on phase-space manipulation of electron beams, including transverse-to-longitudinal phase-space exchange.

Yine earned her Ph.D. in physics from the University of Chicago, where her doctoral research explored angular-momentum-dominated electron beams and flat-beam generation at the Fermilab A0 Photo-Injector.
