Biography
Alec Poczatek is a Cybersecurity Analyst developing new techniques to keep information systems secure from threats. His research primarily focuses on security as it applies to critical infrastructure, artificial intelligence, high performance computing, and quantum information systems. In addition to his primary role, Alec works quarter time with Argonne’s Cybersecurity Program Office (CSPO) conducting penetration testing of laboratory machines and working on new capabilities to improve the lab defenses. Alec conducts cyber-analysis to improve the security posture of the 16 critical infrastructure sectors, assesses and develops novel capabilities surrounding quantum information science (QIS), and develops new software technology to reduce the risk of cyberattacks. Alec holds a Master of Science in both Computer Engineering and Information Assurance, and a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science from the Iowa State University of Science and Technology. He additionally has a certificate in Quantum Engineering and Technology from the University of Chicago
Alec serves as the co-chair for Argonne’s Next Generation Society (NGS) providing opportunities for personal and professional growth to Argonne employees.
