Antonino Miceli

Antonino received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Washington. He joined Argonne in 2005. Antonino (Nino) Miceli is the Group Leader of the Detectors Group in the X-ray Science Division at the Advanced Photon Source (APS), Argonne National Laboratory, and holds joint appointments at the University of Chicago and Northwestern University. His group leads research and development in advanced X-ray detector technologies, enabling cutting-edge scientific experiments at the APS, and operates the APS Detector Pool, providing technical support and services to beamlines and users. His R&D interests lie at the convergence of microelectronics, computing and quantum.

Antonino earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Washington in 2005 and joined the APS as an Assistant Physicist the same year. He played a key role in establishing the Detector Pool’s operations, which now supports over half of APS beamlines. In 2010, he was awarded a Department of Energy Early Career Research Grant for developing superconducting X-ray detector technologies.
