Jihun Han

Principal Research Engineer, Intelligent Vehicle Control

Biography

Jihun Han is a Principal Research Engineer at the Vehicle and Mobility Simulation Group and has worked at Argonne National Laboratory since 2018. He received his B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), South Korea, in 2009, 2011 and 2016, respectively. He was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at IFP Energies Nouvelles, France, in 2016-2017, and at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, USA, in 2017-2018. 

Research Interests

His research interests include modeling, control, and simulation with an emphasis in intelligent transportation systems, and connected and automated vehicle systems. Recent studies have focused on the following topics:

  • Data analytics
  • Human driver modeling and validation
  • Energy efficient driving controls for Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs)
  • Evaluation of energy impacts of CAV technologies 
  • Experimental demonstration of CAV
