Biography

Dr. Juin Yau Lim is currently affiliated with the Energy Systems and Infrastructure Analysis (ESIA) Division at Argonne National Laboratory, where he contributes to advancing renewable energy technologies and life-cycle analysis. Positioning himself on continuously contributing research that elevates energy security and resilience. 

His current work includes modeling sustainable pathways such as Waste-to-Energy and green methanol production, alongside on contributing towards the update of GREET model.

Dr. Lim earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Engineering with a dissertation focused on optimizing renewable energy penetration for sustainability and system reliability. He also holds an M.Eng. in Chemical & Environmental Engineering from the University of Nottingham. To date, he has authored over 40 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals, including Applied Catalysis B: Environmental, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, and Applied Energy.

Dr. Lim’s expertise spans energy transition, AI-driven optimization, waste-to-energy technologies, life-cycle analysis, and techno-economic analyses. He is the Award Winner for the Young Researcher Award at National Category from IChemE Malaysia (2024) and also Highly Commended at the Young Researcher Award at International Category from IChemE Global (2024), UK

In terms of professional recognition, he is currently an elected Chartered Member (MIChemE) from IChemE and Chartered Engineer (C.Eng) from Engineering Council since year 2025.
