Biography
Matthew J. Jasica is a principal nuclear engineer in the Nuclear Science and Engineering division at Argonne National Laboratory. His current work focuses on experimental thermal hydraulics performance of passive cooling systems as a test engineer on the Natural convection Shutdown heat removal Test Facility (NSTF). Matthew also examines the nano-to-micro scale radiation response of fuel systems to accelerated ion beam testing with the Chemical and Fuel Cycle Technologies Division. He has supported work advancing the next generation of nuclear reactors through the design and operation of unique separate effects test facilities. Previously, Matthew worked as a Postdoctoral Appointee, then Electrical Engineer, at Sandia National Laboratory examining radiation effects in electronics. Matthew received his Ph.D. and M.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2015), where his research focused on helium and hydrogen surface damage and retention effects in tungsten as a fusion reactor material, and his B.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
